35% of Cyberplex Africa's shareholding is owned by NurTrust, an educational trust created to promote community development. Cyberplex Africa believes that as a corporate citizen, it has obligations to enhance the communities in which it works. To this end Cyberplex supports a number of non-profit and education initiatives. Some of these include:
The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library (TEEAL)
Cyberplex hosted and facilitated the development of this initiative in Zimbabwe. TEEAL provides subsidized access to the most respected academic journals on a CD ROM collection for over 40 African Universities.
World Links Program
Cyberplex developed a pro bono website for this World Bank initiative that is developing Internet projects in schools throughout Zimbabwe.
Tumbuka Dance Company
Cyberplex Africa built a marketing website to promote Zimbabwe's leading contemporary dance company, and assist the development of performing arts in the country.
African Tertiary Education Connectivity
Cyberplex Africa has been involved with several important initiatives to improve bandwidth for higher education institutions in Africa. Details can be founds at www.atics.info and www.ibaud.org.
Cyberplex School Projects
In an effort to directly assist with Internet education in the country, Cyberplex staff choose a local school to support. Staff spend time with both teachers and students helping them develop their Internet and website skills.
